The Plan

As the 201st Legislative District’s next State Representative, Johnny will fight to make sure all Pennsylvanians have access to quality, affordable health care coverage and that no Pennsylvanian is forced to choose between medication or a meal. Johnny will address racial, gender, and geographic disparities in access to coverage and outcomes by strengthening Medicaid, working with the federal government to implement a reinsurance program to lower health insurance premiums, protecting reproductive freedoms, and combating rising prescription drug prices by holding pharmaceutical companies accountable. As State Representative, Johnny will also work to end unacceptable maternal mortality rates for Black women by expanding home visiting programs, improving access to quality care, ensuring access to lactation support, and mandating mental health screenings for pregnant and postpartum women as an option of their continuum of care.

The Work Ahead

• Continue to ensure the states reinsurance program to lowers premiums and increase assistance for Pennsylvanians who can’t afford their premiums.
• Combat maternal mortality rates for Black women by expanding home visiting services, access to quality care, ensuring access to lactation support and mandating mental health screenings.
• Increase access to contraceptive care.
• Lower prescription drug costs by passing Prescription Drug legislation, that sets price limits on certain drugs, and holding big Pharma accountable.
• Increase funding for mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
